Minutes of 9/8/12 NY Executive Committee meeting
Venue: Hibiscus Restaurant, Richmond Hill
Time: 800-1030pm
Attending: Kris Lachman, Radha and Howard Bernstein, Ameer Gulmohamad, Riaz Bacchus, Eno Chabinauth, Dev Cheddah
Items discussed:
- The committee welcomed back Dev Cheddah and were glad to see him again
- Sept 29 Fund Raiser:
- Preparations : We went over in detail all the arrangements and preparations from the DJ to the food and bar. All is proceeding nicely. We assigned responsibilities per person. We have done this many times and we all know what is expected
- Evening Program: We decided the order in which we would present the dinner, speeches and raffle drawing. We are in the process of finalizing any additional entertainment
- A donation box will be available at the bar for the first time
3. Gord Ramkissoon of Canada would like to donate 5 bicycles to the school and have them available yearly to the most needy students. We discussed the best way to proceed on this and have replied directly to Gord with our suggestions. Gord has also again graciously donated $300.00 for our cause via Paypal, his third year in a row, and all the committee members were made aware of this.
4. We talked a bit how to appeal to businesses for possible donations for our cause
5. We are following up with the Headmaster about our letter to the Ministry about building a new school. Now that we can reach him email, it will be much easier to communicate.
