Minutes of 5/10/13 NY Executive Committee meeting

Items discussed:
We have changed the direction of our focus away from building a new school as the project is not feasible at this time. We resolved to proceed in the meantime as follows:
1) Scale down our goals and try to accomplish smaller but important goals such as buying new uniforms, funding graduation ceremonies, supplying text books and establishing a scholarship fund for entry into the University of Guyana.
2) Fund raiser for 2013: We would like to have one but on a smaller scale such as a boat ride cruise, cricket match or gathering in a park. We will work on this at subsequent meetings.
3) We will make contact with Richie Singh of the JCSS Committee and try to meet so that we can learn how they have become so successful, and perhaps ask for assistance
4) We need to have an active representative in Guyana able and willing to promote our agenda. We have the the following candidates in mind:
a) Auntie Chato who Riaz knows
b) Phool Denobrega: We will ask her if she has the time to be able to get more deeply involved
c) Pamela Jaijairam who was a former LCSS teacher.
We will have a conference call on 5/17/13 to follow up on this after the respective people have been contacted.
