Minutes of 4/28/10 NY Executive Committee meeting

Venue: Hibiscus Restaurant, Richmond Hill Queens

Time: 8-10pm

Attending: Kris Lachman, Riaz Bacchus, Radha and Howard Bernstein, Rakesh Ragubir

 

Topics discussed:

  1. Event Tickets: Radha will handle the accounting 
  2. Majestics May installment check prepared and will be sent. 
  3. Raffle Tickets: Each executive committee member will give out tickets to trusted friends and family for sale. Howard will handle the accounting. 
  4. Sponsor recruitment: We discussed how to attract corporate sponsors for the upcoming fund raiser event. June 15 is our target date to have some on board. Sponsors can contribute prizes for the raffle, consolation/door prizes or donations. Howard will formulate a script for this recruitment and detail what the sponsors can expect in return for their donations. Rakesh will be in charge of this area. 
  5. Flyers: Kris had a mock-up of a flyer to announce the Event that will also show our corporate sponsors. Rakesh will ‘play’ with this to make it suitable. 
  6. Text Books: Our check has been received by Austin Book Store in Georgetown and we expect distribution of US$2200.00 of books to LCSS within this week. Riaz will follow up with Headmistress Nirmala. 
  7. New Playground at LCSS: The first installment of dirt needed to make the area has been delivered. This was graciously funded with US$1000.00 from a donor wanting to remain anonymous. Riaz will be coordinating our funding of the second and final dirt delivery and then the playground will have a base for further development. 
  8. Computers for LCSS: Howard has made contact with the organization operating from the Guyanese Consulate in Canada that so far computerized 5 secondary schools in Guyana. They are very knowledgeable how to effectively go about this and we will be in further contact with them via their on-line presentation in May.
  9. Reaching out to new alumni: The following persons will be responsible for being in touch with alumni currently known to us:

 

Class 69-76 & Teachers: Dev, Radha, Riaz & Ganee

Class 77-79: Eno, Shirley & Sandra

 

Class 80-present including Internet searches and Facebook: Kris and Rakesh
