Topics discussed:

  1. The committee decided that disbursements to LCGSS with be for books first and then some computers with the intention to increase the number of computers over a time period of a few years..
  2. The Guyana Ambassador to Canada, Mr. Doobay has an organization that gives matching funds to those that contribute to Guyanese schools. Kris has sent an email and called the Ambassador office and is waiting for a reply.
  3. Riaz spoke to Sagar in Canada to keep each organization abreast of their activities to avoid duplications. Sagar informs Canada has C$1500.00 to disburse to the school and they will be earmarking that for funding the Science Lab.
  4. Radha has solved all tax filing issues with help from NYS.
  5. Annual fund raiser for 2010:
    1. The dates targeted are May 1, 15, 22, Saturday nights.
    2. 3 locations are under study: Fairfield Pavillion, Majestics and a location that Rakesh knows (friend of Kris) knows of, all in Queens.
    3. Dave Deonarine, owner of Hibiscus, knows the owner of Fairfield and will be kind enough    to introduce us. Riaz will follow up on this with Dave and arrange a meeting. Dave also said he could sell for us 250 raffle tickets which was very much appreciated by the committee.

     6. Howard contacted the One Lap Top Child organization which arranges laptop for impoverished schools world wide to see if it could be a fit for LCGSS. But this organization requires 1000 unit orders minimum at $200.00 each so this is beyond our needs.

           7. Broadband internet service at LCGSS costs US$600.00 per year and we decided to fund one year. Riaz will find out the details of the Guyanese internet provider and we will arrange direct payment.

           8. An interim meeting hopefully will be scheduled by a conference call shortly and Howard is looking into the costs and the logistics of this
