Topics discussed:
1.Acting Head Master at LCGSS, Mr. Imran Ally has been replaced by Ms. Nirmala Hussein. Mr. Ally is now Deputy Head Master. Mr. Ally had the experience but not the years required at this time. We are glad that he has remained at LCGSS.
2.Our Riaz Bacchus had a telephone conversation with Ms. Hussein and he learned the following:
a. LCGSS has a full staff of teachers now
b. Ministry of Education gave LCGSS supplies but not enough to satisfy all needs
c. 2008 Graduation results were better than expected which can now allow for ceremonies to be in September as the students are doing well enough for completion.
d. The school is in need of a copier machine.
3. Ideas for distributing funds to LCGSS: The following ideas were generated:
a. US$500-600.00 to refurbish 3 empty adjacent house lots to be used as a badly needed playground
b. Network capable copier machine
c.Chemistry Lab and educational DVDs
d. Acquire adjacent properties for school expansion
e.Donating computers and/or laptops
f. Sports Equipment for playground
4. NYS Tax exempt filing: Radha will meet with Mr. Jagdesh Mohunlall who is a CPA and graciously donating his time.
5. DVD of LCGSS for approaching charities: We decided this is not the route to go at the moment
6. Open letter from Riaz on behalf of Executive Committee was approved to post on our website
7. Terry Gagraj concert for next fundraiser: Chris will follow up and make contact with Terry
8. Website:
a. We found a small website with a number of LCGSS Alumni listed whom we do not know and we will reach out to them
b. Registration glich has been repaired
c. Grand Reunion and LCGSS graduation DVD’s: We would like to have them edited down for eventual posting to the site
d. Progress reports of LCGSS 2007, 2008, 2009 graduations will be obtained and posted on our site.
e. Eno thinks she might have Grand Reunion photos for posting.
9. Next meeting will be Jan. 8, 2010
