Our Mission and Vision

Our mission is to help support the Lower Corentyne Secondary School (LCSS) in Rosehall Guyana. (This school was called Lower Corentyne Governent Secondary School LCGSS in the time of most alumni). In Guyana there are many schools that do not have the necessary funding, supplies and infrastructure to properly school their students. Fourteen years ago a number of alumni from LCGSS presently living in New York decided to create an organization dedicated to support the school they attended while in Guyana. LCSS sorely needs many things that we take for granted here in the USA.

What we have done since our inception is raise money to help fund the care of this school making up for the gap that is created by lack of funds from the government. We have already put into place over $17,000.00 in needed supplies and infrastructural improvements into the school. The fact the school has the backing of an American based organization has given credence to LCSS and we believed helped it obtain more structural additions and improvements from the government. We feel our cause is a noble one and we have many dedicated alumni and friends here contributing their time and money to support our mission. We have indeed made an impact and contribution to the school and we will continue to do so in the future.

We can list some of the the current conditions of the school as follows:

Repairs:

The building is in need of all facets of repair such as plumbing and electrical. There are no fans and many rooms can be extremely hot considering the yearly temperature of Guyana.

Supplies:

There are shortages of books, computers and overall supplies.

Playground:

There is no playground.

Our Alumni Association is a wonderful link for keeping in touch with old friends and making new ones today.

Please navigate our website and enjoy what we have established so far. Any suggestions on how we can improve the site will be welcome and greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

LCGSS-AA Executive Committee
